(PIERRE, SD) – The South Dakota Lottery may be the one celebrating its 25th anniversary on September 30, but it’s the public that will be getting the anniversary gifts. Online registration opens today for a series of giveaways that could net registrants prizes ranging from Lottery t-shirts to $500 cash.
Interested individuals can register at https://lottery.sd.gov/events/register.aspx on the Lottery website. There is no purchase necessary but the person must be at least 18 years of age and be a U.S. citizen. Lottery Executive Director Norm Lingle says when the agency began organizing the 25th Anniversary observance this year, it was important to include a component that thanked the players themselves.
“The success of any business comes from the loyalty of its customers. Whether they’ve been playing the Lottery since the first ticket was sold or just now are being made aware of our existence, we want our players to know that they’re appreciated,” Lingle said.
Deadline to enter the prize drawing is 5:00 p.m. Central Time, Thursday, September 20, 2012. On September 21, 25 winners will be randomly drawn from among those registered. Five of the 25 will each win $500 cash; the remaining 20 individuals will receive Lottery prizes ranging from mugs and cooler bags to 25th Anniversary jackets. All winners will be notified by email no later than September 25, 2012.
The Lottery’s 25th anniversary celebration also includes the sale of anniversary-themed scratch tickets, recognition of those retailers who have partnered with the Lottery since inception, an anniversary-themed booth at the South Dakota State Fair next week, and a formal observance at a South Dakota Lottery Commission meeting to be held September 28 in Pierre.
